Welcome to the upcoming events page!

Quite often we like to open our doors and sponsor events open to the public. The following are brief explanations of some of the events we sponsor.

Guest Artists

Juxta’s programs are enhanced by contributions from local and national guest artists who represent a wide range of disciplines. Guest presenters are emerging and more established individuals who have claimed art as a profession. Seeing accomplished artists up close and personal doing their thing is motivational and gives the youth a clearer path for their futures. In addition to dozens of Minnesota artists who have been visiting guests, Juxta has successfully hosted national guest artists including internationally renowned, New York-based urban artists Blade One, Case 2, Lady Pink, TATS Cru, Crash and Daze. As well as local masters including Seitu Jones, and Ta-Coumba Aiken.

Exhibitions

Most Juxta programs end with youth participants preparing for and taking part in a community exhibit and sale of their best creations. Students title and price their work and over the course of a session become skilled at talking about their inspirations and ideas of their pieces. The kids receive eighty percent of the proceeds from sales of their artwork, with the remaining twenty percent going to Juxta. These art shows are the climax of the programs known for an artistic excellence that often exceeds the expectations of first time attendees. In addition, Juxta engages a wider audience by holding youth exhibits at community venues such as restaurants, malls, and office buildings, as well as at public events such as the Minnesota State Fair and the state’s official Martin Luther King Holiday Celebration.
