Summer Art Youth Program 2008

Summer Program I

Community Mural : June 17th - July 31st
Days & Time: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 1 - 4 pm
Ages: 10 - 21
Rep Your Hood! Your Community! Your Street! Yourself! You will learn how to paint a large outdoor mural that will express your voice, concerns and vision in relation to your community. You will also learn how to use various media such as paint brushes, paint rollers and aerosol.

Textile Camp : June 17th - July 31st
Days & Time: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 9am - 12pm
Ages: 8 - 21

Custom T-shirts, backpacks and shoe design! Create one-of-a-kind customized items. You'll learn the basics of custom design from preparation, design, painting and finishing. Mediums will include textile paint, airbrush, leather paint and more. STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN FRESH OUT THE BOX ALL LEATHER SHOES!!

Summer Program II

Super Person You : August 4th - 14th
Days & Time: Monday thru Thursday 10am - 12 pm
Ages: 8 - 21

Have you ever imagined yourself at a superhero? Do you want to learn how to draw an anime or manga character? In this class you will learn how to develop the character of a superperson and express that character on paper using anime manga and comic techniques.

Free Wall Fundamental : August 4th - 15th
Days & Time: Monday thru Friday 4 - 7pm
Ages: 13 - 21

Do you want to have the freedom to paint on outdoor wall? This will allow you to independently practice your craft of aerosol art.

All interested students must attend an entrance interview with the lead program instructor. Call 612-588-1148 to schedule your 1/2 hour appointment on one of the following days.

The Studio Arts Program is a FREE program for youth 8-21 years old with a strong interest in visual arts. Students must attend program at least two days a week. Priority registration is given to youth who live or go to school in North Minneapolis.
